February Again

So, it seems that I get migraines in February. Weird eh?! I think I must be in tune with the aligning of the planets or something, some kind of galactic event happens every February that my mind is sensitive to, and as a result it feels like my head is exploding! That's my theory anyway.

Can You Please Stay

Another painting, a little more detail than the last (but just a little!)
I wont tell you what it's about, I'll let your super awesome imagination and supremely ultimate powers of deduction do that for you.

Project Solve

“Brendan Scanlon was an artist in Chicago who went by the name ‘Solve,’” write friends and family of the artist. “He was stabbed to death last June by Kirk Tobolski. It has been a devastating event for those of us who knew him. One thing we are doing to help ourselves deal with it is to try and spread his name far and wide.”

So, I took part in this project, I contacted these guys and they sent me Solve stickers. Here is where I put them. The link below takes you to the results map, check out New Zealand!

My Workspace

My workspace, the little zone in my life where I love to chill out, take a load off and allow my thoughts to race.

Charcoal Fun Times

Here are a few more charcoal pictures I've been playing around with.
I'm still a noob and havent found my groove, so I'm all over the place right now, pencils, pens, charcoal, paint, Photoshop, illustrations, pictures, comics and coffee... Always with the coffee.

'The Sounds'. NZ landscape is can be pretty inspiring. And just plain ol' pretty.

Knowledge & Life
Cryptic title? Good! If you know me you'll probably understand, if not just ask me sometime.

Black & White Autumn
It's autumn right now and I love the change in colours.

Spikes Journey
Don't ask me where he's going, you'll have to ask Spike.

The Last One

More watercolour painting, I'm still playing around a lot, some things work, some things really don't! I got a Moleskine watercolour book the other day which is truely awesome. I love gesture drawing at the moment. This picture is about extinction and some peoples attitude toward it.

It's not all that bad...

Ever had one of those days when you were in a totally bad mood, then something little but funny happens that makes you feel unusually happy and the weight of the world has been lifted off your shoulders? Same... It makes me remember that it's good to chill and be happy.

Watercolour Experiments

Watercolour painting really appeals to me, I really really like the texture.
Anyway, here is one of my pieces which includes a little poetry that I accidently invented.

I've never really liked Starbucks coffee

But I'll tell you something I do like, this picture! It's by an artist named Ben Tour, and lately I have been obsessed with this picture. The colour and expression on her face is fantastic. I'm chilling in the Christchurch public library at the moment, one of my favourite places. Loads of books, free wireless internet and comfy bean bags. All I need are some chocolate covered coffee beans and I'd be like, supremely cheerful.

Black & White

I'm totally loving black and white right now, such a classic look and ultimate contrast.
I recently got a quill and ink, and man I love it!
More charcoal...

Ink pens on 300gsm watercolour paper, love the texture.
Good texture makes the world go round.

Tribute To Flight

So, my main inspiration to get into drawing and other artie things is the Flight anthology, the following pictures are a tribute to Flight and its awesomeness. Check it out:
http://www.flightcomics.com/

They have a great forum with many posts from budding and seasoned illustrators. Flight is edited by a great bloke named Kazu, he keeps a webcomic at http://www.boltcity.com/
If you ever get a chance check out 'the making of copper' on his site, it has some great insights into how he makes his webcomic and the techniques he uses. Anyways, my tribute...
Thanks Flight, Kazu & all the contributors, you're like, totally awesome.
