A Full Sky

So like, colour is very cool, but there is still something about black and white that I totally love.

So, I am wondering to myself - where can I get sheets of perforated paper?

Take & Ignore

Last two in a series of four.
So! Anyways, I have another exhibition coming up in April! It will be totally different stuff though, this time it will be more of a tribute to old comic books and Benday dots. Four months and all I have so far is pretty must just ideas, time to paint like a madman.

A New Direction

So after reading about Roy Lichtenstein during the exhibition, I have been totally inspired to do something similar, here it is! Oh man, I love how it turned out! It's a bit of a tangent from the ink paintings, but I think I'll try and complete a series of paintings like this. Colour is a pretty cool invention.

A close up showing the Benday dots.

Avoid

This is part of a four panel piece, Distract, Avoid, Ignore and Take. Four human qualities that tend to have a negative impact on society.

Fo-Toes

Here are a few pics of my time in the Cloisters gallery at the Arts Centre, Christchurch NZ!. I had lots of time to read up on some library books, Warhol and Lichtenstein - Interesting dudes. I have been hit with new inspration! I might make some stuff, call it the Lichtenhol Collection... or perhaps not.

(Thanks for the pic Jono!)

Thanks All You Dudes!

Oh man, what a great week! I had heaps of fun chilling in the gallery, reading books, listening to music and talking to very interesting people. Thanks so much to everyone who stopped to chat and especially to those who took something home with them - I really appreciate your support and remember each of you, I hope they look great hanging on your walls!
So back at work, that's pretty uncool... I feel so tired. Even though I had a super-awesome time, seven days in the gallery has left me feeling a wee bit destroyed!

Red Bull Withdrawl Symptoms

Distraction has such a negative impact on people these days and I'm not sure they realise it.

I'm Ready - I Think

Well, exhibition starts on Monday and I think I am ready for it, have all the hooks, string, tape, posters and.. oh yes, pictures ready to go. I have one hanging in Look Gallery at the moment (great place, good coffee, nice people!) and they asked if they could use it in their ad, so I said: 'Hell Yes!'. Always a buzz - being in the paper.

Anyways, as I approach the exhibition I feel excited, but also anxious. Will people like my stuff? Will it sell? Will anyone turn up? Oh man! So easy to freak out if you let yourself.

Future Proflie - Super Sized

Kind of hard to get a sense of scale from the photo, but here is the large canvas I'll have on the back wall - Hopefully will grab the attention of peeps passing buy, and then they will say "Oh man! Look at that interesting thing on the wall in there! Lets go in and buy stuff..."

Sudden Changes

Oh man - Sorting things out for the exhibition takes ages! But I'm totally done, I think, I'm pretty sure actually, but I could be wrong, but I hope not. I finished a large canvas over the weekend (pics on their way), the last thing I had to do! So, now I just need to wait for the day to come, then I can realise all of these other things I should have done and have a total freakout. Awesome.

You Are Like - Totally Invited

So, I had a small exhibition planned for July next year (it was the soonest spot I could book) but there was a cancellation and now it's next month! Oh man, I am super excited but have to get things sorted asap! So, if you're in the area you should come by and give me a high five.

Strange Pleading

So, I've been working on a series of these images for a small exhibition. I've almost finished and had an 'OMG now what do I do?!' moment over the weekend. So, I went and sat in my fav bookstore with a double shot caramel latte and had a wee brainstorm. I might step back into drawing cartoons for a bit. Cartoons - the impatient artists genre.

Visipanel

P.S if anyone wants to buy this stuff just drop me an email - in my profile. They look pretty good once framed (if I do say so myself) should get some photos of the finished framed product.

Saxon Knew

Yes, more of these things. I'm trying to complete a small collection of these images, 'The Shadow Collection' (small tribute to the Shadow Gallery from V for Vendetta) and will be showing them early next year. Just need to get them framed which means I need to pay out $$! Uncool.

Atoblast

Headphones - They are so hot right now. But A little overdone I'm starting to think, anyways, I'll cash in on their popularity, and they do look kinda cool. 'Atoblast' I like that word, it reminds me of 5th Element with Lelu says 'Mul-ti-pass'. Good movie, and Milla Jojovich looks smokin' hot with an orange hair-do. So, if someday I invent a headphone brand I think I'll call it 'ATOBLAST' fyi.

What A Migraine Looks Like

In an attempt to explain to someone how a migraine feels, I made a quick illustration. "It kinda feels like this!" I said. They said "oh ok".

Terraformation

An interesting thing happened last night.
We had a power cut, for like 3 hours! When it hit our dinner was cooked, so we sat outside with a candle and a glass of wine, then I walked down the street to see what was happening and met all of these people in our street who I have never seen or talked to before, even after living here for four years! It was like, forced socialisation since there was no TV and Internet. I sat at the table with more wine and candles writing in my journal in the dark and felt a strange feeling of relaxation. It seems life gets more complicated and cluttered as time passes, simplicity is surprisingly chilled out and enjoyable.

Wedding Invites

So it's the first time this has happened, be asked to make invitations that is, not go to a wedding. Coz I've been invited to heaps of weddings because I'm so totally awesome and popular and everything. Uh, anyways! A friend asked me to make her wedding invitations, so I did! They are below, have a look. The wording isn't finalised yet, still in concept stage but I'm so stoked at how they turned out :)

Don't Cry Spock

Once upon a time there was this dude named Spock aka Mr Spock. He's not really real, but still a pretty interesting kind of bloke. His hobbies include pinching people on the neck and boldly going where no man has gone before. He has these ears which are pointy, the pointy bits don't really serve any practical function I don't think, they are just decoration for his face. Anyways, he is a pretty cool looking and interesting character so I made a picture.
